Welcome to the July 2023 installment of my monthly series highlighting favorite things that I am loving and overall obsessed with. There is no scientific method (or really any method or process to speak of) that I use to select the pieces that I highlight — just things I really liked and used a lot in the past month. This originally started as a sporadic series in 2022 — you can read all the 2022 editions here: vol. 1, vol. 2, vol. 3, vol. 4, & 5. And you can check out March, April, and May, and June 2023.
Man oh man, July was so hot!!! After a june that was cool and rain-filled, the heat was welcome, and we have spent lots of days by the pond and at the beach (basically, anything in search of water!!), eating ice cream for dinner multiple nights in a row and sitting on our porch enjoying popsicles (I’ve forced my kids to eat them oitside because otherwise they get everywhere and then we get ants).
I feel like I got out of the early postpartum daze a little bit and into a bit of a cadence. Lots of long book walks, lunches with friends (as long as the lunches can be eaten standing up) and honestly, a lot of shopping - both with preparing for a big trip (we are away for most of August) and searching for clothes that fit!
Old Navy Athletic Dress - I have raved about this dress on Instagram, and many of you whol follow me there have bought it! It really is so good. Fitted and compressive without being too tight, built-in shorts, not too short, and cute colors. Plus, the price is right. I also easily nurse in it which is a huge pro!
Epilator - so if you follow Courtney grow on Instagram you already know about this, and it’s kind of old news. I actually bought this last summer, but, it really is SO GOOD. YES, it’s an up front investment, but I haven’t shaved in over a year. And I love it. I use it every couple of days on my legs, and usually give my upper legs a once over on the weekends if we’re going to the pool, pond or beach. I’ll often do it while my kids are having a bath! It’s the best!
Beaded Necklace - Everyone has upped their neck stack game and I am in the process of choosing a new necklace to add to my stack. I like to wear my jewelry everyday, so that means new pieces are usually an investment piece, which means I have to wait to save up for them! In the meantime, I have been loving all the beaded necklaces that add a little pop of color and fun, especially in summer time. Britty Barr share this one and I love it!
Crown Affair The Ritual Conditioner - I am usually an Oribe fan, but was looking to switch things up recently (and also spend less) when my bottle of conditioner ran out and decided to give Crown Affair a try. I am loving the conditioner so much, I want to try the shampoo and hair towel next!!
Revlon SPF Lip Balm - It is hard to find a SPF lip product that doesn’t taste weird or look weird on your lips. This deposits the perfect amount of color and sun protection, and doesn’t taste bad. I love the berry and strawberry colors!
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros- Clear your calendars, cancel your plans. You will not be able to put this book down. I am not a fantasy girlie and I adored this, and so many other fantasy and non-fantasy readers agree! It’s gripping and exciting and fascinating. You will fall in love with the characters and the plot!
Doen Ischia Dress - I treated myself to this dress after having it on my wishlist for awhile. And man, it was worth it. It is gorgeous, and so flattering. I feel great in it, even in my postpartum body where definitely not every piece of clothing in my closet feels great. A good reminder that it’s worth it to spring for some new things during this in between stage - this is especially worth it because it will fit through multiple life stages. If you are pregnant - this would be a great dress as you could wear it while pregnant and postpartum, and you can easily nurse and/or pump in it. Would make for a beautiful maternity photo dress! Also available via Doen in white and black here.
One Love Organics Oil Face Cleanser - this is an old favorite cleanser, but I had been using other cleansers for awhile, and when it was included in the Credo sale recently, I stocked back up. This is seriously the best — gets EVERYTHING off, makeup, sweat, sunscreen. I love it!
Thanks for reading!!!
