Happy Thursday! Last month, I moved my sporadic series highlighting favorite things to a monthly series highlighting things that I am loving and overall obsessed with. There is no scientific method (or really any method or process to speak of) that I use to select the pieces that I highlight — just things I really liked and used a lot in the past month. This originally started as a sporadic series in 2022 — you can read all the 2022 editions here: vol. 1, vol. 2, vol. 3, vol. 4, & 5.
The whole motivation behind sharing this little round up was inspired by other women who I regular turn to for recommendations and inspiration that also share their favorite things. I love to hear what other people are using, wearing, and loving and discovering new-to-me things. My hope is that this inspires you, too!
I feel like I can barely even remember what happened in April. Ha! The weather has been warming up a little bit, and when it hasn’t been raining, we have been enjoying as much outside time as we possibly can - it is such a gift! Our house feels bigger, our afternoons and evenings are a little easier, we’re all in better moods, and, especially when we eat our meals outside - we spend less time cleaning up! We have been doing as many little projects around the house, knowing that as soon as the baby comes, we probably won’t have much energy to do any of those things for awhile, so it’s been feeling nice to cross small things off our list and make tiny improvements!
This month, my favorite things were house/home items, some accessories and the beauty staples I have been reaching to over an over again.
1: Block Print Tablecloth (via Amazon): We have been practicing setting our table for dinner several times a week, and this tablecloth has been a nice addition to our table-setting routine, and it makes our beat-up, ancient Ikea table look much nicer than it actually is! I always admire so many beautiful table linens, but I didn’t want to spend too much here because we basically have to wash it daily and my kids are hard on it. This was a great, budget-friendly addition to our table and I love the pattern!
2: Zara flats: Many shoe acquisitions recently, as clothes are not very exciting since nothing really fits and I don’t want to buy anything that I will only wear for a few weeks ! I found these at the Zara store, which was a rare experience for me. Overall, there was almost nothing that looked interesting in the store (definitely in the midst of a major inventory turnover), but I did discover these flats and I have been wearing them constantly. I love them with the ballet slipper ribbon on the outside and tucked in. I was originally a silver shoe skeptic, but am a total convert now, I am seeking opportunities to wear them!
3: Sponge Sink Holder: Okay, maybe a silly item to share, but we had a sponge sink holder that would constantly not stick to the side of the sink, and it truly drove me insane. We replaced it with this one and not only does the suction work great, it also has enough room for more than just one sponge — so our countertop sponge & dish sponge can both fit in the little compartment! Tiny investment for a major improvement!
4: J.Crew Barn Jacket: I hemmed and hawed over this jacket, even tried it on in store in NYC and then went on to think about it for weeks. I finally pulled the trigger and I love it! It makes me so happy and it has been the perfect layer for this time of year!
5: Gold Hoops: These aren’t a new purchase, but I hadn’t worn them for awhile, but this past month found myself reaching for them constantly. They have the perfect daintiness factor, while also being light and small enough to wear daily.
6: Innisfree Daily UV Defense: It’s SPF season, friends. I have added a few more options to my rotation so that I have a couple good options that aren’t just my tinted EltaMD. I am loving this Innisfree option - it goes on like a dream, leaves no white-cast, and basically feels just like a moisturizer! Plus, can’t beat the price!
7: Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara: I always come back to this mascara - I love mascara and this is just my favorite when I want to look just a little bit dressed up. It’s not necessarily my everyday/daytime pick, but it is my favorite for nighttime, events, and when I just want to wear mascara and nothing else, but look great!
8: Vanessa Wu Fisherman Sandals: These are a discovery via Abby Hernandez, and I’m truly obsessed. I have experienced deep lust for several more expensive pairs, but these have totally met the mark. They look good with everything, I have gotten so many compliments and they are super comfortable. I’m considering the gold pair!
