Welcome back to Volume 2 of “Current Obsessions.” We are (dare I say it, I really don’t want to jinx myself)…on time…? [edit: nope…maybe Monday AM is just too much for now. We’ll aim for beginning of the week moving forward].
If you missed from last week, I am starting a new series, inspired by other women who I regularly turn to for recommendations and inspiration. My hope is that this provides inspiration to you, too! And a fun way for me to regularly share in addition to my longer essays.
This week I am all over the place - some fashion, some accessories, some kid stuff, some…refreshments? Enjoy!
Amazon Dress - I ordered this dress after I saw @abbyarad wearing it (She has so many good finds at a variety of price points and incredible style) with a waist bag (aka a fanny pack) and sneakers for a day out and about, and it’s really great. The buttons are not real, but it’s just a fun, simple mini-dress that I wore with platform heels (and the amazon hoops from last week) out for dinner on vacation! (Note: I can’t entirely tell if it’s a Prime Day sale or not, but both of these items are on major sale right now!)
Accordion hat - The Lorna Murray Capri hats have taken the internet by storm and I’ve been swept up in the hype. Our local swim store, Eden Pond, has a huge selection, and when I was in there a couple weeks ago I had a real treat yourself moment. But the hat is awesome - provides 10 out of 10 sun coverage (imo, not an official rating), is lightweight, folds up to pack and comes in the most incredible selection of colors!
St. Tropez Tanning Mist - When it comes to sunless tanning products, I take my recommendations from 3 sources - @GraceAtwood, @things.i.bought.and.liked and @popapologists. Two out of the three raved about this inexpensive tanning mist and I have been loving it. One of my co-workers commented on how glow-ey I was looking on a Zoom last week, and all I had on was a little moisturizers and a fresh spritz of this. Love.
Culture Pop Probiotic Sodas - Moving into the refreshment category - I am obsessed with these drinks. Sort of part sparkling seltzer, part soda, but no stevia or fake flavorings! This is my current go-to for an afternoon pick-me-up when I would normally go for a sweet of some kind. The flavors are so good, and sometimes I drink it with a ton of ice out a wine glass on a night I’m not drinking. I highly recommend! I find them locally at our corner store and a couple groceries around town, but you can also find them on amazon (but you should also ask your local grocery store to stock them!)
Fever-Tree Elderflower Tonic Water - A second (this is getting weird and I promise this is the last one) drink obsession is these fancy tonic waters. Normally I am not a gin person AT ALL, but my husband loves gin & tonics. He has been making them for us on hot summer nights with this tonic and a TON of limes and something about the tonic is amazing. It’s such a refreshing, light drink, with the perfect herbal/citrus touch.
Webster Grey Beaded Necklaces - Discovered via @gemsiloved and @mallygoldman, this jewelry company makes tiny beaded necklaces in every color combo you can think of! Plus, she can do custom orders - my son really wants a green necklace for his birthday, so I’m planning on ordering him a kid-sized one! She also has a great selection of beaded pieces. They stack well together, with other pieces and I wear my multi-colored necklace everyday.
Chimi Sunglasses - I really can’t stop with the Chimi sunglasses. I love my 01s so much, and am lusting after a pair of the 02 (I think in tortoise) and the 04 (I think in black). Those might be the three types of sunglasses you need to round out a collection - a round-ish pair, and oversized wayfarer, and a chic square pair.
LibroFM - If you follow me on instagram, you know I listen to A LOT of audio books. I started this habit right after I had my first child, and was nursing around the clock (and throughout the night) - I was too tired to read a book/hold my kindle, but I wanted to stop scrolling my phone endlessly. Thus started my audio book obsession. Now, I listen when I’m cleaning the house, doing laundry, gardening, getting ready or even when I workout or go for long runs. So, I go through a lot of books. I always have a list of books I’m waiting on at our library, but for new-er releases, and other instantly-need choices, I love LibroFM. It is audible-like, but the $ for the books you purchase goes towards the bookstore of your choice — I choose our local bookshop! And, with a monthly subscription (~$15) you get one free book credit a month, + 30% off all other audiobook purchases. They also curate great recommendations in all different categories - it’s fun to browse what they recommend when choosing your next book. Also, a great place to ask for (or gift!) gift cards to if you use it! You can browse my favorite reads here!
Old Navy Athletic dress - My sister got me on the Old Navy activewear train and now I can’t get off. I’ve told all my friends to get this dress, I wore it about 5 times when I was on vacation, and am constantly wearing it for walks, running after my kids, etc. It’s comfortable in the heat, flattering and makes me feel one million times more put together than leggings and a t-shirt. Also, if you are nursing, you could definitely easily pull it down to nurse (finding dresses you can easily nurse in is tough!!)
