Welcome to the May installment of my monthly series highlighting favorite things to a monthly series highlighting things that I am loving and overall obsessed with. There is no scientific method (or really any method or process to speak of) that I use to select the pieces that I highlight ā just things I really liked and used a lot in the past month. This originally started as a sporadic series in 2022 ā you can read all the 2022 editions here: vol. 1, vol. 2, vol. 3, vol. 4, & 5. And you can check out March here, and April here.
May was a full month - my due date came and went (Iām still waiting on the arrival of this baby in early June!) ā and I spent the month wrapping up at work, getting our house and car ready for a newborn, and getting through as many things on our to-do list completed before the baby comes! The weather has warmed up big time, our garden is in full bloom, and we are spending as much time as possible outsides, which is making everyone happy AND makes our house feel so much bigger which is very welcome!
Loewe-like Sunnies: These are so fun and I have been loving wearing them to mix up my outfits, especially when I am repeating outfits left and right. I like the opaqueness of the black lenses, but I also love the other colors!
Oversized Sweatshirt: This has been my most reached-for sweatshirt this pregnancy. Especially at the end when ideally nothing is touching my body! Itās perfectly oversized, soft, comfy & cozy. Iāve been wearing it with bike shorts on repeat! I got the grey and sized up to a large which is plenty big and oversized for me, even at 41 (!!!!) weeks pregnant! I am already thinking about adding another color - will be a great piece to have for postpartum - I will probably take my normal size (M) in the extra color!
Trader Joeās Hand Creme: I have been getting in the routine of putting hand lotion on every night before bed. I had some in a nice tub that I was given as a gift but ran out of it recently. I was at Trader Joeās and picked up this tube and I really love it! Itās $5 at TJs, but also available on Amazon for less than $10!
Hill House Home Emma Dress: I got this dress from the latest Hill House Home launch, envisioning myself wearing it both as a cover up at the pool / lake / beach this summer, as well as with fun espadrilles for a night out. I love the pattern so much, and the cut is great. The best surprise is that Iāve been able to wear it while pregnant, which has been clutch especially this past week where it has been 1000 degrees.
Brass Light Fixture from Illuminate Vintage: We finished the kids bathroom renovation project in May which feels AMAZING. We have other bathrooms in the house, so itās been totally fine to manage without the normal bathroom situation, but itās so nice to have access to a bathtub for them and the bathroom closest to their bedrooms available to us again. Plus, itās beautiful. Especially beautiful is this light fixture which is above the sink - Iām obsessed with it!
Brushed Gold Frames from the Rusty Roof: One major category of small house projects Iāve been tackling over the past few weeks is finding spots for and hanging some of the art that we have collected over the past couple of years. I love art, and have been slowly collecting pieces over time, but it always takes me forever to get around to actually hanging it! I didnāt want to break the bank on frames for a couple sketches I found when we were in Charleston earlier this year and I am in love with these frames I found from this seller on Etsy! So easy to order from, great customer service and the frames look great!
Poppy Gifting: Poppy Gifting provides customized gift selection services. You fill out a little questionnaire about the person / occasion you are shopping for, and then they create a customized gift catalogue that you can select your gift(s) of choice from. Once you make your selection(s) - they take care of everything else - ordering, unpacking, wrapping, and shipping it right to you, or the recipient of your choice. This year they helped me select gifts for my husband for his birthday. It was a crazy and packed month, and his birthday was right smack-dab in the middle of the month. It was so nice to have help to make sure I had something fun and interesting picked out for him - and they nailed the gift picks! Even though Cadets is one of our favorite brands for my son, I had no idea that they make mens shorts, which Poppy picked out for Vinny. And, I learned about new-to-me brand Stitch for golf lovers! They knocked it out of the park, made my life about 1 million times easier and Vinny loved his gifts! They offer support for a la carte gifting, or a subscription services to support all your gifting needs. Would be so great for Fatherās Day, or for any weddings you have coming up this season!
Wavy Phone Case: Not a purchase from this month, but I got this phone case earlier this spring and itās a goodie! Itās simple, but the wavy sides are both fun, and practical because they make it easy & comfortable to hold your phone! I have the dark green, but also love the white and pink.
