Hello, December!
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. I have unfortunately spent the better part of a week and a half bedridden as what I thought was the flu turned out to be pneumonia that knocked me flat out for several days. Finally, I’m on the right meds and able to sit upright in bed! It was a good reminder to take better care of myself and do more to prioritize rest. I’m not good at that! I am constantly complaining about not having enough time to just veg out and relax, and when I actually NEED to do that, I fail. And, well, my body said, not this time babe. I haven’t been sidelined by an illness like this in a long time. SOOO. I finally got the message. I was not a shopping crazy person or a task crazy person during Thanksgiving break, I was forced to be in my bed for basically 4 days straight. Thankful for a husband who has been running the show single handedly. And thankful for my health (that is being restored) and the health of my family and children.
Today, we’re focused on the men in our lives. Could be your partners/spouse/boyfriend/dad/brother/uncle/father-in-law/crush. These are the kind of guys who have and love their hobbies (there are a few niche things in here!), or they could use a refresh on some closet staples.
Gift Guide #5: Gifts for the Men in Your Life
Winter Water Sport Gear —Starting off super niche, but if there is someone in your life who loves winter water sports (read, is borderline CRAZY!), Sealskins makes heavy duty waterproof gear, especially things like hats, gloves and socks. My husband got my dad this colorful, waterproof beanie for sailing and windsurfing in the winter (like I said, CRAZY!, but cool, I admire it!)
Belt - Is it just my husband who is buying belts off amazon that then stamp their entire pattern (pay no attention to the fact that the belts have patterns, that’s besides the point) permanently on their pants? Just him? Anyways, a nice belt is a classic gift. I love this classic one from Tecovas. This from Brooks Brothers is also lovely.
Faherty Movement Shirt - Faherty makes these button downs that are soft and really nicely cut and come in a wide variety of patterns and colorways to match anyone’s style. They look great under sweaters, half zips, and can even be worn with blazers. Personally a big fan of the blue gingham, but I also like the Azure Pincheck.
Alex Mill Donegal Sweater - Treat him to a sweater and then borrow it for yourself! These sweaters are so great. Warm, cozy, great to relax in at home, layer when headed outside, or wear to work or out for social events.
RayBan Clubmaster Sunglasses - Another universal truth is the fact that all men (people, actually), look great in RayBan Clubmasters. There is something so inherently attractive and classic about them!
Yellow Label Co Sweatshirt - A classic sweatshirt in a nice, sturdy material is another great gift that he’ll wear over and over again. This sweatshirt feels like you’re wearing a weighted blanket, and has a nice soft fleece inside, but is also structured and has a shape.
Hoff Sneakers - I discovered the Hoff brand earlier this year when I was on a work trip with a coworker from the UK - he was wearing a pair and I really loved them. I immediately purchased a pair for my husband and they’ve quickly become one of his favorite pairs. They have great colors and are super comfortable.
Gentle Alarm Clock - Help ease the glaring morning wakeups with a gentle alarm clock that will also help (if wanted) wean a bedside phone addiction. Bonus points that it looks quite nice as well!
Lands End Henley - What is it about a Henley shirt? They are comfortable, warm, practical and they look great on the wearer.
Swimsuit - If your husband is anything like mine, he wears his swimsuits until they are borderline not appropriate to be worn in public (or, at home) anymore.
Leather gloves - Every one should have a reliable, warm and nice-looking pair of gloves. They’l last forever!
Chukka Boot - A classic boot that isn’t too tall or too short, too dressy or too formal. I am partial to a suede style. Also really love this Moccasin-style.
Epic Runs of the World Book - If you have a runner in your life, what a cool collection for their home, and to build a bit of a bucket list!
Custom Golf Stamp - A fun little stocking stuffer for the golf lover in your life!
Overnight bag - I got this for my husband years ago and he still uses it on pretty much every long weekend trip he goes on!
