Everywhere I look, people are talking about fall. And it’s been happening for awhile. While I love fall, and especially fall clothes, the transition from summer to fall is always a hard one for me. Mentally, it feels like a big shift - letting go of the freedom that comes with summer, the ending of summer vacations, going back to the routine, back to school, preparing for cold weather and winter, etc. It’s a lot of change!
Also, August is usually our biggest month of travel and summer vacations, this year especially - I am writing this while back home for two days after a long trip to the Midwest and getting ready to spend the last few weeks of summer on the cape. So, I’m still thinking about and wearing summer clothes. I’ve also done a pretty decent amount of shopping this summer to have some pieces that fit during the early postpartum phase, so I’m trying to spend a little less right now and slowing down my shopping!
That said, fall clothes, they are the best. I love them. It’s my favorite season for so many reasons and one huge one is because of how it’s the perfect weather to get dressed in. You can wear layers and dust off all sweaters but don’t yet need the bulky coats to keep you warm in the ice of winter!
Some pieces are catching my eye and I’ve started to think about what’s on my list for the upcoming season. I haven’t had much time to really think about what I’m shopping for this fall, and I want to write more about how I approach a new season in an intentional way that helps me to avoid impulse buys or buying things I don’t actually need. But, I have started to save some inspiration to a new Pinterest board, and I can tell by my screenshot folder that I’m starting to find lots of interesting things (and leaning into a moody color scheme if you can tell!) So, some early faves in this week’s edition!
Velvet Flats - Ballet flats are my most favorite shoe, and these are, objectively, perfect. Wear with jeans, dresses, skirts, trousers, literally everything. They dress a casual outfit up, add a feminine touch when you need it, and add a touch of polish when you need to feel put together.
Frill Socks - Picturing these socks with a chunky loafer or a ballet flat. Just a teensy bit of nod to current trend without being too over the top, and I love the little ruffle!
Pearl Embellished Sweater - I love fall because I love sweaters. And I love the little embellishment on this one that will make a simple outfit feel special. I am also always looking for sweaters like this around the holidays! This would look especially great with a long slip skirt!
Striped Sweater - I’ve never met a stripe I didn’t like, and this one is so exception! An oversized striped sweater is such a staple- use it as a layer now and to stay extra cozy throughout late fall and winter.
Belted Coat - I haven’t figured out my coat strategy for this year (I usually add one new coat in fall or winter, so I’ll have to put some thinking into what I want!) but this one really caught my eye when I was online browsing this week!
Floral Dress - I may not have everything on my fall wishlist figured out but I do know that a great floral dress will be on there. Perfect for so many different occasions!
Mock Neck Sweater - a great piece if you’re headed into an office this fall!
St Barths Mini Tote - I’m not sure why this Naghedi bag doesn’t get as much love as it’s larger counterpart, but I’m obsessed with the crossbody ability and overall functionality of the bag, plus the chocolate color is perfect!
