Feeling hot, hot, hot (and humid!)

Am I the only one who finds herself on the precipice of August, shocked by how hot 80 degrees feels? I spend all year yearning for this season and then when it comes I am complaining about the heat & humidity nearly immediately. I’ve written before about this phenomenon and the fact that I find it to me a shameful aspect of human nature - the fact that there is almost always something about the weather I am prepared to complain about within a second. But man. It really is hot! And humid.

So, that means it’s time to dress appropriately. I was totally obsessed with

recent rundown of what to wear in this heat. Her thesis: white. Cotton - poplin. Linen. And she’s not wrong, but I would “yes, and” her thesis to add easy sundresses, fun patterns and mini dresses - these are the things I want to wear as the last month of summer stretches before us. September will be here before we know it and even though the heat will linger well through the end of the month, by then I know I’ll be ready for fall and my fall wardrobe is typically much heavier on neutrals and solid colors. While we have the heat I want fun, breezy, sexy summer!

This is a great sandal. A little platform, a little woven- so beautiful but also highly practical with the back strap and they look incredibly comfortable. They would be great for a trip because they’ll go with everything and they will also transition into fall so well.

The latest arrivals from J.Crew for pre-fall are so good! I’m dying to make it to a store to try some things on. Some standouts are this long linen dress— perfect for days when you don’t want anything to touch your body. This cotton-poplin shirtdress is nursing-friendly and just utterly wearable.
