Happy Monday and somehow it’s the last week of July. We head out of state next week for two weeks, and then spend the last two weeks of the summer before school starts on the Cape, so, this feels like our last week of “break.” I’m trying not to panic about packing all of us up to fly on a plane (joy!), and tackling a little bit everyday. I have paper lists, lists in my notes app, lists in google keep, amazon lists, lists in my head. A little chaos! I do a lot of roundups of things that catch my eye on instagram, and while I’m not going to stop doing that, I am going to try to move some things to this newsletter! I love Instagram, but I also love Substack, and personally have been trying to shop from my computer vs. my phone — it helps me avoid impulse purchases! So I’m just going to give this a try — just the things that I saw and loved recently!
I’m going to start off with the disclaimer that I’m not really a bag person. I want form and function in my bags, but I rarely “shop” for a bag unless I have a specific need, and don’t really think of them as seasonal purchases. Except for a classic YSL clutch, I’ve never even had a designer bag on my wishlist. I understand you’re going to roll your eyes at this, because I am now sharing bags with you, but, I’m being honest - I wasn’t really a bag person! But then, everything started changing this spring. I’ve gotten more interested in bags as an accessory item, and noticed some actual gaps in my collection. The grip Loewe (more below) bags has on me - I am constantly browsing them, is real. I’m not totally sure a $1K bag is worth is for me right now (also its 1000% not in my budget, so whether or not it’s worth it is negligible TBH), but, man, I want one!!
So let’s start first with a lower price point - a real gap in my closet is cute evening bags. I have an old clutch borrowed from my mom that I wear to most events, and an old bucket bag from sezane that they no longer make (probably 5 years old) that I wear a lot. But, I’m really into the woven and raffia clutches we are seeing everywhere, and this shell one from Mark and Graham is so cute (and on sale)! I love that you can hold it or use the strap for over your shoulder.
This woven clutch from a great Etsy shop is also awesome. Perfect size to use to store things in your luggage, and then carry out at night!
This Bottega-inspired evening bag caught my eye when I was strolling through my local Sara Campbell this week. The leather feels so nice, and I love the colors!
And then, finally, there’s Loewe. The grip this brand has on me with their bags. I love the styles, that they are actually practical, and that they don’t have their logos all over everything. It started with this woven one that would be perfect for summer, but has extended into this cute crossbody (that also doubles as a clutch) and this shoulder bag that would be perfect for work!
Even though I am trying to soak up every last second of summer, I’m not not thinking about fall…especially the shoes! I am team sneakers forever- and I especially love the classic New Balance 574. They just released some great colors for fall, and I’m especially into the green and blue!
Then, I’m also considering branching out to a new look, with the trendy Onitsuka tigers - I love this color-way - a white sneak with just a subtle color.
And, on the major, major someday-maybe wishlist are these Isabel Marant western-inspired boots (on sale from last season!) I love ‘em. They are so classic, and they give an interesting edge and unexpected element to an outfit. It’s unlikely I’ll be getting these this fall, but a girl can dream. And I know I do want a brown boot for this upcoming fall/winter!
With our trip coming up, I’ve been eyeing so many things, including cozy and chic travel outfits. I love the look of this half zip sweatshirt and wide leg sweatpants - would look great together and as separates!
And finally, some cute summery earrings that add a fun pop to any outfit!
Hope you enjoy and have a great week!
