How to come off like you've been planning for Easter for months
...even if you, like me, just realized Easter is NEXT WEEKEND
Before you say it, I already know what you’re thinking…TWO newsletters in three days? Who is she? The most productive and efficient woman in the world?
Ha! Absolutely not. Truth is I was hoping to include spring shopping inspiration and easter fun in the last newsletter, but I just couldn’t get it together in time! So, two separate pieces it is!
I mentioned last week that we do not really observe Easter as a religious holiday. But, of course, I know that Easter (and Passover which starts later this week) is a huge observance and celebration for many people - (and not just because Target, CVS, and basically every brands marketing campaign at the moment tells me so)!
We do take part in many of the fun activities associated with this time of year, and we will have a fun meal with my family to celebrate Easter, and my mom’s birthday (which falls on the same weekend as Easter this year!). We have a first round of easter egg hunts this weekend, and then we have multiple additional ones next week/weekend. Plus, my children have high expectations for their Easter baskets! My son actually told me that he has a list of things he wants for Easter gifts. When he said that, I was like, “excuse me, what? we don’t make Easter “wish lists” in this house.”
Despite not planning to give any major gifts or set the expectation with my kids that Easter is a major gift exchange holiday, my heart is not made of solid ice, so I am planning on assembling fun little Easter baskets for them, and we will probably have a bit of an egg hunt at our house on Easter Morning. Plus, I never need an excuse to plan an outfit for myself, so the chance to get a new dress/outfit really resonates!
I’ve been seeing Easter ideas and content in stores and online for several weeks now. Probably since early March (maybe it was actually as soon as Valentine’s Day is over?) And basically until about 3 days ago I was like, Easter is so far away I cannot even think about that right now, and then 3 days ago I was like OH SHIT. It’s the last week of March. Easter is next week. AMAZING.
So, my inspiration for outfits and easter baskets (or spring gifts) is for those of you, who, like me, like to fly by the seat of your pants and wait until the last minute to prepare for these holidays. Nothing like a little adrenaline rush, right? In other words, my unique value prop is not simply inspiration for these things, but the promise of products that (at the time of posting) can actually get to you in less than a week. Oh, and also, that is not just candy as while I will give my kids some candy (I am actually somehow taking them to get Jelly Beans as soon as I wrap up my workday today, it’s totally unclear how I got here), but insane sugar-induced behavior is real so I will also control the volume and frequency of that candy like the control freak I am!
Happy Easter and Happy Passover, if you celebrate!

1: Embroidered Dress: Beautiful and conservative, I think this would get a lot of wear.
2: Tiered Midi Dress: Love this!
3: Satin Midi Skirt: Pair with a simple t-shirt, or a navy or tonal sweater!
4: Baby Unicorn Book Finger Puppet Book: Any book, of course, makes a great gift for an Easter Basket! And I would encourage you to go to your local bookshop to pick something out. But, we love this finger puppet books, we’ve gotten many as gifts and have a small collection. Also, when my kids ask to read 3 books at bedtime - my hack is to say, SURE! Let’s read our finger puppet books. And we read like 4 books in 5 minutes. You’re welcome!
5: La Ligne Vivian Dress: I tried this on at the NYC store this past weekend, and it works with a bump. I’m obsessed with it! Also love in this colorway!
6: Mille Cotton Sundress: TWO pink dresses. Wow. Clearly I’m into that color. This is beautiful, and you could throw a sweater over your shoulders if you want them covered. I truly think anything from Mille would be a great choice for Easter!
7: African Daisy Dress: Bring the color to your Easter celebration!
8: Bath Bombs: The grip that bath bombs have on my family is hard to explain. But kids love em! (In case you were wondering, specific categories of bath bombs placed high on my son’s Easter wishlist).
9: Gingham Romper: Cute outfit for a baby/young toddler!
10: Ophelia Dress: Simple silhouette that will look great on anyone. I absolutely love this fabric!
11: Golf Cart Hat: For your budding golf enthusiast!
12: Valerie DVF Dress: If your budget is a little on the higher side, this is beautiful and unique!
13: Kids Sunnies: fun gift that is also practical. Also, if you miss the shipping deadline, an alternative option via amazon is super cute!
14: Alpine Cindy Dress: I absolutely adore this — the print and colors, cut. So flattering and sheer perfection.
15: Tiered Midi Dress: Gingham Perfection.
16: Jump Rope: My kids are too young for actually jumping rope, but I imagine we could have some fun with these, and would be a great gift for slightly older kids ready to figure this out!
17: Octavia Linen Dress: This feels unique and fun!
18: Daisy Sunhat: Cute and useful for the warmer weather we have coming!
19: Water Wow Book: Fun for all ages!
20: Color Mess Free: This is a wonderful set for my daughter who is still learning (at 2) to keep markers/crayons on paper and not other surfaces!
21: Matchbox Cars: Can’t go wrong with a set of these. Bonus is you can give one for Easter and save the rest for a day when you need something new!
22: Kids Towels: Am I the only one who is still using baby towels for my kids? It takes two to fully cover my 4-year-old when he gets out of the bath. Feels like it might be time to get some towels that actually fit them, and I love that these will still be fun!
23: Floral Dress: This dress is too cute for a little girl! Also comes in a matching baby set! Not everything from Maisonette will make it in time, but their home brand items tend to come very fast!
24: Striped Sweater: A cute sweater for any kid! Stripes forever! (And The Avenue has super fast shipping)
25: Welly Bandaids: My kids treat bandaids like stickers, so they would be thrilled to have some new ones!
26: Smocked Midi Dress: Another beautiful Mille option!
27: Light Up Soccer Ball: Get you and your kiddos outside and enjoy this!
28: Construction Set: Okay, so you will have to pay a little for shipping in order to get these in time, but I can attest that this is a great set. My kids (4 & 2) both play with these all the time. They are small but versatile. We brought them on vacation with us a couple of weeks ago and played with them at our rental house and on the beach! Highly recommend!
29: Throw N’ Stick: Get in the outdoor weather spirit with this game!
30: Bloom Palmer Dress: Hunter Bell knows how to make a beautiful dress and this is no exception.
31: Maileg Mouse: We are a home that feels passionately about these little mice. They provide a lot of entertainment and I think they are super cute. Again, you might have to pay a little for shipping for these!
32: Nerina Dress: This is totally out of my budget, but I love it!
33: Paloma Caftan: Love the print on this and I think you would get a ton of wear out of it!
34: Bunny: A stuffed bunny feels like a classic choice for Easter!
Not linking, but some other fun, and low-cost ideas if you are in need of some easter basket additions:
Stickers - My kids love stickers. If you have a local toy or art store I’m sure they will have great options, and they are good for all ages!
Small sets of crayons or markers
Spiral notebooks - to use the crayons or markers with. It’s always nice to have a little notebook if you are at a restaurant or traveling!
Hair clips: can be found at CVS, Walgreens, Target, etc. We are in a big butterfly clip phase over here. My daughter looks straight out of 1998, it’s awesome.
Bubbles
Chalk - get ready for outdoor season!
Play Dough - a classic for a reason!
